I am writing to you on behalf of the Vancouver Ukrainian Folk Orchestra, which has been in continuous operation for nearly a century. I was the conductor myself for several years but it is currently in the very capable hands of Pavel Rhyzlovsky. He is a highly trained, versatile musician, from whom any young player could learn a great deal.
The VUFO, despite the "folk" term, is patterned after a standard classical orchestra but includes domras (Ukrainian mandolin) and accordions. We need string players (all kinds), bassoon, trombone, horn and trumpet.
We would be grateful if you could let your students know of this opportunity to further enrich their experience. Our rehearsals are Tuesdays, 4:00 - 6:00 in the storied Ukrainian Hall at 805 East Pender Street
